Early Pregnancy Concerns
Our Midwives provide assessments for pregnant people who are experiencing vaginal bleeding and/or pain that are less than 14 weeks pregnant.
The Midwives will contact you within 24 hours and assess your needs, provide emotional support and help guide you through this challenging time.
If you are experiencing bleeding and/or pain in early pregnancy (less than 14 weeks),
please call: (705)259-3399 to book a same-day or next-day appointment. If the bleeding or pain is **severe** and cannot wait one day, please go to the local emergency department.
1 in 5 pregnancies end in pregnancy loss; it is important to know that pregnancy loss cannot be prevented and is usually not an emergency. Ultrasounds and blood tests will not change the outcome of your pregnancy.
Eligibility: Any pregnant person experiencing lower abdominal pain and/or vaginal bleeding who is less than 14 weeks pregnant.
Cost: Free! Even for those without OHIP.
** How much bleeding is too much? If you are bleeding through more than 2 maxi pads per hour for more than 2 hours or passing more than one clot the size of a lemon, you should be seen in the emergency department. You should also proceed to the emergency department if you are feeling faint, dizzy, have severe abdominal pain, or shoulder tip pain.
