Orillia Midwives: Complete Pregnancy, Birth and Postpartum Care
Registered Midwives are specialists in low-risk pregnancy, birth, and newborn care. In Ontario, Midwifery care is fully funded by the provincial government—no referral or health card needed.
We provide care throughout pregnancy, attend births in your home or Orillia Soldier's Memorial Hospital, and continue to care for you and your baby for six weeks after birth. We take time to get to know you through 30-60 minute appointments and are committed to supporting your choices every step of the way.
Midwives work in small teams to ensure continuity of care, and one of your midwives is on call 24/7 during your care for labour, birth, and urgent concerns.
We can order all routine lab tests and ultrasounds during your pregnancy. If complications arise, we consult and collaborate with physicians and other specialists to make sure you receive the right care at the right time.

Interested in Midwifery Care? Apply Early!
Midwifery care is in high demand, so we encourage you to apply as early as possible, ideally as soon as you know you’re pregnant. We often receive more applications than we can accommodate, but it’s still worth applying, as space sometimes opens closer to your due date.

We review all intake requests based on your estimated due month. It may take 1–3 weeks to hear back from us if you are applying for complete Midwifery care.

If you do not have a local Family Doctor or Nurse Practitioner, please indicate that on your application form. We will contact you to arrange Early Pregnancy care.

Routine prenatal care typically begins around 8–10 weeks of pregnancy. If you’re earlier than this and experiencing bleeding or significant nausea/vomiting, please connect with your Family Doctor. If you don’t have a local Family Doctor, you can receive care for the first 19 weeks of pregnancy through our Early Pregnancy Clinic. Please note that being seen in the Early Pregnancy Clinic does not guarantee a spot in ongoing midwifery care, however both programs follow the same intake process.

Please apply for care through our online application or call the clinic with any questions—we’re happy to help. After you have submitted the application form, please email or call to advise us if your due date changes.
